A Practice for Learning About Ecology & Documenting its Ever-Changing Story

Woodland Journal

Who’s In the Woods?

A Yearlong Nature Journal

January to December 2021

In documenting my first year of kinship with the woodland lot I purchased, I discovered new layers of being with nature. This Woodland Nature Journal began as artistic process and watercolor technique exploration. It became much more than that. It’s a place to develop practice for learning about ecology through the seasons. It’s the place I return to with all that I discover. Where I document, cultivate recognition, and nurture my relationship with the natural world and all of its wildflowers, plant life, trees, lichens, mosses, mushrooms, and habitat.
